What if today were your last day?

How many times do we take life for granted when we never should. From things as simple as a smile, their heart filled laughter, or maybe a hug that we will never feel again. He was a gentle soul that once was graced by life.

You can say he was only a colleague but then again that never expresses the emptiness of missing the simple things in life like, every Friday morning seeing him ride up on his bike in pink or yellow riding gear. He’d always come in after us and we’d always give him a hard time for being late or riding in the rain, we could always find a reason but those morning were always filled with laughter.

I know when I left for my 3 month business trip to Canada I remember seeing him on my last Friday at brekky and I remember us saying, ‘Well we’ll see you again in 3 months for brekky.’That wonderful huge smile and he said, he'd be there to see me again.

That 3 months fell short when I got the email saying Peter was killed and I have to tell you that it has hit me hard. For a life to be taken so quickly, I can only imagine what his family is going thru so stop taking life, your life, your family’s life, anyone close to you, stop taking it for granted and live each day to the fullest of your potential.

The gift of life was taken in a split second for Peter and for him it’s gone but we still have the opportunity. Will we waste it like most that came before us or will we live it to the max?

Rest in peace Peter.

The dreaded sales funnel!!

The sales funnel, we’ve all been subjected to them, time and time again. They bombard our inboxes with reckless abandonment, and how many of us have been drawn in to the land of promises.

You scroll through the endless pages of testimonials, sales hype, promises of many things, all with the “buy now” sales promotions only to find at the end of it, it wasn't what you thought it was, it's not really free, they want you to opt-in (again) or it was a complete waste of your time.

Copy writers get paid thousands of dollars to convince you to buy and it has to be working or they wouldn’t keep using them. In fact, the sales funnels are getting more and more popular so what does that tell you?

For a better understanding and more information on the workings of the sales funnel, click here:

Dispelling the myths!

In talking with people I am surprised at how much information is out there regarding business but how many people don't know how, where to research for it or even what they are looking for.

They read the sales page hype that's put out there to entice a person into thinking its all easy and a nothing is required but to sit back an let the money roll on in. The companies that have paid to have these sales pages created have done this so they have spun the web to draw you in, and a lot of people get
caught up in all the glitz, glamor and so called income that they have been told is there. So most are led blindly into the fold of never never land of where they are left disillusioned and a few thousand dollars poorer.

What I am going to try and do is try and set the stage for what really goes on and how to actually choose a business, an opportunity that is suited to you, not someone else and their pocket books. So put the credit card away and lets really think about things before going off half cocked!

Is this not the way to work?

I found it. For me it is table 21 at the Sandbar in Middle Park, right on the beach! I sit here in wonderment as the aromas of great food and perfect coffees are delivered right on cue.

I revel in the taste of my latte while looking at endless views of the bay, that seemingly go on forever. The water lapping on the shore in a lazy sort of way, wanting to meander towards the shoreline deciding if it should change its mind or not. All the while, people around me come and go, conversations changing for what seems to be only seconds but I don’t pay much attention to anything but the view and my work.

Hmmm you thought I had forgot about that didn’t you? Don't worry, I haven’t. This is my office today and funny as it sounds, I get a lot done being in a place like this, in a very short period of time.

Today, I am answering a few emails, among other odds and ends. But the real reason I am here is to work on a program, on personal development for business. Oh, I cringe as I hear all the groans, followed by, ‘Not another one’.

I can say this one will be different. Why you ask? Because I have been thru so many myself and I know what doesn’t work for me and why they didn’t work. And I can tell that you are sitting there with a few reasons of your own, from your own experiences.

This is what I need your help for. I want to know what you want in a program. What didn't work for you, and what tools you need to become successful. Please take 5 minutes out of your busy day, and help me create the perfect program for you. And to make it worth your while, I am offering 5 programs for free – so fill out the survey for your chance to win.

What have you got to lose?

www.how2handbook.com/Survey.html

Oh yes before I forget, technology being what it is, the email and name fill in boxes do eventually show up for you to complete, if you want to but it seems you have to fill in all the other boxes first. We are working on trying to fix it but so far we can not determine what the problem is. Sorry!

Now its back to work for me.

Is this not the way to work?

Twittering

I fought it all the way, what good could this twittering do? Who has the time to read 140 letters about anything. I mean our lives are so busy and to stop and read short little blurbs from next door or half way around the globe.

I have been surprised many times in my life and I never thought this would be one of them but I am overwhelmed and touched by the contact that can be made. How this twittering can touch someone in little ways.

I was pleasantly delighted to have one of my followers (GiantCheesePuff) let me know he went to the link and watched, 'If today was your last day' by Nickelback (proudly I can say they are a Canadian band from Hanna, Alberta).

Now if that isn't an amazing tribute to the power of computers and how we can be touched in some way from someone we have never met, I don't know what is.

So Geminitravels, thanks for not giving up and finally getting me to Twitter to see a new side of what can be accomplished in 140 characters.

Enough alright!

Why is it that technology is a thorn in my side these days. It will not under any circumstances give me a break. Every time I turn around, the server is down, the submit button doesn't work, the page doesn't load. Then again why does it always seem to be only certain people that have problems with it. It is over the top frustrating and you get to the point you just want to give in to the bigger being and say, fine I'll go with some dorky little page that every other person has got out there. Look like you covered in Herb Tarlek and all the fine droppings that come with it.

There has got to be a point to this but what it could be is totally unknown at this point in thime.

I am not!

I have beliefs, I am not my beliefs.
I have thoughts, I am not my thoughts.
I have feelings, I am not my feelings.
I do things, I am not my actions.
I am the consciousness that creates and then observes my beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and actions.

'AHA'

How many times in our lives do we have the 'AHA' moments and how many times do we actually listen to them?

They are put there to move us along our path because we asked for a solution, begged for an answer, prayed for help. Then it comes along and most of the time what do we do with it? We push it off to the side thinking that:
- the answer can't be that simple
- I could never do that
- that could take a lifetime
- is it really worth the effort
- what would people think

Open the closet door and there they sit, all covered in dust, piled on top of each other and we just close the door again to wait for the next 'AHA' moment that could be the answer to our problems.

For once why don't we just say, 'Oh my its really that simple' and do it.

That's all!

Twitter and the new Twilight Zone!

Well I can safely say that I have crossed over into the zone of no return. What a fascinating, incredible world we live in, that at the flick of a keystroke we are in the midst of a wonderful, social network with people anywhere in the world.

Communication is instantaneous and can be either personal or open for all to view. The amazing amount of people from every walk of life, are there communicating in what ever form is best suited to them. Now you may not agree with all that is said but you can not help but be overwhelmed by the complete intricacy that wraps itself thru out this network.

I will say I was totally gobsmacked by how fast things can transpire and I was in the middle and was getting swallowed by the shear mass of followers I achieved in one day and the reason I was so overwhelmed is not understanding the protocol of this social network.

If your up for it, I encourage you to 'Sit down, hold on and get prepared to type, respond and read'. But before you go off the deep end like I did, find someone that can get you a bit of heads up or your going to be over your head in a very short period of time.

Now I must get back and do more responding and reading of websites but at least now I know what I am doing (I think) and I can type and relax with a nice glass of red.

That's all!

Free E-Book for online home based businesses

Well it's finally done and ready to be read, 'The road to being an on-line millionaire’ is now available by going to www.how2handbook.com.

Twilight Zone of the Electronic Age

Who has time to complete requests when their computer is trapped in the twilight zone? How is a person suppose to keep up with running a business, with everything that has to be done, then in the midst of it some invisible little pesky virus gets into your computer and just mucks everything up! Files get moved or disappear, programs don't work properly, delays that throw the most rigorous schedule into chaos.

Does anyone on the other side of this computer screen have any idea whats going on, absolutely not, they just know that whatever you promised is not getting done as you said it would.

You can spend days and weeks fighting with that invisible little pest and you either fix it or find some way around him. I am beginning to see the value in 2 computers and if your in business you can best think about it. One for the most important things in your business that should go anywhere near an internet and then a computer to deal with online issues.

A memory stick is good for transporting the data back and forth between the two computers but be wary, a memory stick is a great place for viruses to be transported. I hope I've made your day by giving you something to think about.

Companies not clear on the concept

All we hear about these days is doom and gloom. How bad the economy is and how much worse it is going to get.

Well why is it then, that I can contact a company (advertising to be exact) set it all out so that, they know what I want to do, what time frame I'm looking at and the budget I am willing to spend. Don't get me wrong, I didn't go over the top in budget but I didn't skinny out either. They were the ones that told me the time frame vs spending that I would be looking at and I handed them a credit card and said, 'lets do it'.

They told me I would be contacted in a couple of days by my own advertising account manager, we'd go over every thing, set it all up and then we'd be off and running but I never got that call back, they never charged my credit card and I received no advertising. I know what your thinking and yes, I did call them back and left messages on their voice mail with still no response from anyone at the company. Considering all these facts is it any wonder that I'm a little hot under the collar?

To top it off, they did come recommended by an associate and word of mouth advertising is the best you can get. Now they have taken a possible long term client and turned the great word of mouth advertising that they did receive and any future good referrals from me, into someone that is NOT going to recommend them to anyone. How long do you think this company will stay in business if they continue on this path.

So some times it's not all doom and gloom because of the economy but just because of bad business practices.

It was once said that it takes months to build a foundation with a customer but seconds to destroy it. We didn't even get to start building it before it was destroyed.

That's all.

Where do most people stand when it comes to their life?

Morty Lefkoe said it best, 'What’s the difference between the millions of people who lose their jobs and get paralyzed by feelings of hopelessness and helplessness and the 600,000 last year who said, how can I monetize my skills and interests, and who then created a new business?'

There is so much truth to that statement, look at America when the global down turned started. People were so fearful they went to the extreme and were killing their families and themselves. Why? Because they could not see past the immediate onslaught to what they could have actually accomplished had they looked at their life and situation in a different light.

How do you view it?

My view is that I now see losing my job as the best thing that could have happened to me. It is moving me on to where I really want to be, living and enjoying life on my terms. Each of us in our own way, looks at our own life differently as to where we want to be. The opportunities are there for anyone that wants to take up the challenge.

So my question to you is this, are you one of the millions or one of the 600,000?

I say it so many times but the truth is, life is choices, choosing not to make a choice, in essence is still making a choice.

That's all.

Where will you be?

Come take a walk with me. . .

As I take my morning walk, it begins at the crest of my hill, from here I can see for kilometers from the sanctity of where I am to the city in the distance. Where too many people place their faith in a system not built to help the individual flourish.

It is from here I decent to the base of the hill and the silent retreat of the river’s walk.
As I reach the base I can see that the sun is just starting to peer over the horizon, spraying her light on the last droplets of dew which lay splattered on the leaves of the trees. Above my head the deafening screeching of the cockatoos and the crows as they look for dominance of the the tree tops above. The little finches zip in and around the branches and long grass and they playfully get ready for the new day ahead.

Walking along the bank of the river, I hear the pebbles crunch under my feet and as I slowly take in a long, deep breath of crisp clean cold air just fresh off the river. As I inhale the dampness of the air it fills my lungs with the most incredible awakening breath and the smell that follows is utterly refreshing.

Thru the trees lining the banks of the Maribrynong I can see that the last mist of the fog is disappearing. To mellow in the beauty of the river as it is so peaceful, so quiet, yet complete in the calmness, just waiting for the day to begin. Soon, it will be full of the rowers with their skillful oars that will slice the top of the water with such skill that not a sound is heard but right now, it is a sheet of glass just waiting to be broken.

Just then my silence is broken as in the distance I hear the sounds of traffic, horns sounding with the impatience being felt by all that make the journey to work at a job they probably don't really like that much.

If that is you then just remember, tomorrow you’ll be back in traffic and I'll be back here, living the lifestyle that I have created.

Choices, we all make them.

That’s all.

Now What?

Ever get that feeling you've been here before and its all just a little too familiar for your liking? That's how it was for me to, I had been on this roller coaster ride one too many times and I knew all the turns, climbs and plummets . There was no excitement to the ride only the knowledge that no one knows when the oil and gas industry was going to come back on line, this time we got told it would be happening first part of January, then they backed it off a little to March, and when it got to June I knew we were in for a long run of the jobs being scarce.

January - that's when I decided to start changing direction for the employment opportunities but I soon realized that the regular avenues weren't to my liking, I mean, seriously, 6am -5pm all the while stuck behind a computer, stressed out at unrealistic deadlines, and clients that couldn't make up there minds on what they wanted. Was this really what I wanted? Again?

I had come to enjoy, waking up to actually see and enjoy the day, to be able to drive to the ocean to just marvel in the wonderment of it, to work on personal projects too long over due, meet friends for lunches and share stories with a great amount of laughter, plan holidays when I wanted to go and for the time frame I determined was good for me. I knew that I couldn't go back to being an employee so I went looking for an alternative where I would work the hours I wanted, to be able to live the life I had grown to absolutely love. I know it's not the same for everyone but how could you not want to live this way every day.

With that it started my journey to find the business that fit the life style I has so quickly become accustomed to and was unwilling to give up!

From The Daughters Perspective...

I remember the days when my mother used to be able to stay at home and watch me while I grew up.  Then a day came where my dad was laid off, and my mum thought that it was time to get a job and help out.

After many years in the oil and gas industry, I have seen her panic as the thought of learning a new trade sunk in.  After thinking through everything, I remember her coming to me and asking me what I thought about an online home based business.

I was shocked and amazed that something could actually make as much money as a 9 - 5 job, without the 9 - 5 hours.  I gave her all my support, and have been helping out as much as I could, and I have been more than a little surprised of how well it has taken off.

And I have my mother back, with me for the days, and not always rushing off to work, and not always stressed about what she couldn't change.

If you want to give your kids the quality of life that I was blessed to have, and am back to having, please fill out the form, and take the first step.

I can't believe how blessed I am for having my mother back.  Who is missing you?

T-14 days

I can still remember J sitting there and telling me, 'Kathleen I'm afraid we're going to have to give you 2 weeks notice.'

Can I say it, I had my nose out of joint in a 'how dare they re-trench me' kind of way and then I'd slip to the 'yahoo it's finally happened' zealous frame of mind.

The next 2 weeks flew by with lunches, brews and the final nail in the coffin, a bottle of red wine and a bottle of whiskey. I must say though I did enjoy the bottles that were the send off to my 4 and a half years with the company.

Now let me complete this total scenario by telling you that my partner decided instead of getting a job and contributing to the now non-existent cash fund, he'd pack his bags and leave.

Some times you just have to sit back, laugh and marvel at the wonderment of life while sipping on a glass of the red.

So your looking for an on-line business!

Available April 1,2009

Before taking the plunge you should read my e-book 'Before the first Sale, the road to being an on-line millionaire'.

Leave your details below and it will be e-mailed as soon as it's available.

That's all.

Why is it every website is the same?

I know they say that if it's not broken don't fix it. I know they say that if you have a proven system follow it but SERIOUSLY why do we keep wading thru the endless spiels that tell us that they have the system that is miraculously going to fix all our problems and make us a millionaire, like it did for them and all for only $49.00 . . ooops for the 24 hours the next 50 people will get it for $29.00 and they'll include $1500.00 worth of free bonuses. Oh ya I'm a bit behind the times with that one, right now everyone has try it for $1.00 for the next 7 days or 30 days or whatever. I have to admit that whoever came up with this is a master mind for teaching the gallant few how to drain money from the pockets of all of us that don't' have a clue is absolutely marvelous for someone. But who?

That's all.

How I learned to live my life!

Hi I'm Kathleen and I'm guessing you've arrived at my web page looking for some of the same answers I was looking for when I first started out.

Let me see, my previous vocations have been in accounting and design/drafting for the oil and gas industry.  Needless to say my employment never filled the need, the desire, the flexibility or the unlimited income I wanted to have so I could travel and  work on my own terms, and do whatever I wanted to. Actually I found being employed by a company to be a very stifling way to live life.

Being retrenched has enabled me to find Lifepath Unlimited, from this I have embarked on my ultimate journey and live the lifestyle I want.

If any of the above rings true for you then maybe it's time you made the decision to start on your ultimate journey.

Cheers,

Kathleen
